Basilica Cistern

Built in the 6th century, the giant reservoir has 326 columns supporting arched vaults in brick and covers an area of 11.720 square yards. Several columns are set on carved Medusa heads that may have been brought from Ephesus or Didyma. You might recognize scenes from the James Bond movie , 'The Man with the Golden Gun', which were shot in the cistern.
